Cupid

Cupid
By: Melody Peters

The arrow hit me
And then it split me
Into two…

Unequal distributions
One side is the real me
The other is unrecognizable

The warm glow is growing
Consuming my being
Confusing my faculties

Who the hell am I becoming
I don’t know what this is
I wish it would stop

I don’t know how you caught me
Why won’t you release me
I try to break free of this grip
That threatens to rearrange me

Breathing easy without you
Until
I relapse into your smile
