Year One (Chronicles of The One #1)

This was hard to follow at first because the story is told from many perspectives. There’s about six different storylines that crossover, so it was a tad frustrating at first. After I got over that I enjoyed it. There were annoying characters, but that’s every book. This story was interesting because it wasn’t your usual dystopian universe book. It was a mix of dystopian with witches, wizards, elves and fairies. There was darkness and light, and a virus that wiped out half the world’s population. Some parts of this book reminded me of the Resident Evil series, which I love so much. Just the doom, actual name of the virus, and gloom of it is very reminiscent of Resident Evil. There was no light at the end of the tunnel, but the characters still thought things would return to normal. That’s humans for you. Even in the face of imminent death we still hope. That hope is what one of the character’s had to carry to the end of the book. Hopefully things look up in the next installment of the series.
